Jimmy Smits even elevated Dexter! Which is saying a lot for a show that rides on it’s likable lead actor. It takes a REALLY good actor to just jump into the wishy-washy camp of Dexter and not only, you know, act… but also to play the camp game and commit to the weirdness. I love Jimmy Smits, and now, I’m going to need to watch this.

I’m still mad at Jimmy for taking the Bail Organa role in Episodes 2-3. No decent actor should sanction that shit. I see you, Ewan.

Bradford playing the anal-retentive hall monitor reminds me of an unfunny version of Murphy Brown’s producer Miles Silverberg.

Probably what I dislike most about this show is what I don’t like about many network shows… the need to hit us over the head with the same plot point several times, in case anyone missed it while heading to the kitchen for a snack. Eddie’s making other plans — got it the first time. Lucinda’s a hacker — message received (oh yes, she does stuff Hardison does on Leverage, only without the almost-plausible jargon-filled explanations, something else I find less interesting).

Still, I think Smits plays the charming, smartest guy in the room very well, and as you say, many successful law and police dramas have been based on little more. Item received was exactly as described, will probably do business with in the future.

The critics are destroying this thing. I thought I was being harsh. Apparently not.

I have to absolutely cosign. I went for my hipwaders at commercial break about 20min into the show, because it was getting thick and deep. But Jimmy is just so completely watchable, I didn’t actually turn it off. So there’s that.

At least now we know why NBC didn’t show it at the Paley Center preview party. The 3 minute trailer (which basically showed the entire plot of the pilot) looked pretty decent, but I guess that means 41 minutes were not! Though, I had to wonder about a former Supreme Court judge getting thrown out of a Casino for counting cards at a blackjack table. I guess that makes him edgy!

The show was a stinker. I don’t get the appeal of Smits. He’s not good looking or even that good of an actor. I think he was the problem with that show. Needed someone younger.

I barely caught this show before NBC canned it. It was okay. You’re probably right though, it seemed more like basic cable fare.

Jimmy Smits used to be hot, but he’s old and his acting was never that good. Without his looks he’s a blight on television.
