Your Friday Five #3

May 7, 2010

Collect them all.

  • I know the whole cross-stitching edgy things is played out, but who doesn’t need a Biz Markie inspired crossy to hang up above their fire place. For real. Check the rest out here. But I like this one the best.
  • Three Frames is not only the best thing on Tumblr, it’s art. Seriously, these tiny 3 frame gifs are way more exciting to me than most crap people are putting up in Modern Painter or Juxtapoz (f that noize) or American Painter or High Fructose or any other. The pieces range from jolting to uncomfortably subtle to gorgeous. Get yr eyeballs ready for a show.
  • I pulled an overnight at work last night, and this what I put on when I woke up to get me going again. I dare you to put this on and not move.
  • Fol Chen have a new album coming out. They’ve always had a pretty strong Prince meets Pulp vibe going on, but the new song is unabashedly ripping pages from The Purple One’s velvety, paisley book. Listen to “In Ruins” here, and then watch this older ditty from their excellent last album, Part 1: John Shade, You’re Fortunes Made.

  • I love this little cartoon homage to Basquiat. Scott Campbell is a gifted cartoonist who you can follow on Flickr! Which is great, but hey, why not go to a museum this weekend?

Now you’ve gotten me addicted to another website. FRAMES. Also, LOLing at Emilo and his “beer” can from Ralphs.

Emilio and The Dude should hang out in Ralphs together. They can brown bag it and then sit outside near the can-return machine swappin’ stories and sharing a drink or two.
