Mr. Hasselhoff, Tear Down This Wall!

April 18, 2010

Here’s your Sunday dose of heartwarming cheese. The 1989 classic international (though failed to chart stateside) hit and eventual anthem to nearly all Octoberfests – “Looking for Freedom” by David Hasselhoff. And lest you think him politically disengaged, he actually sang this shit as the wall came down! – one of the few appearances of his I missed (and would have actually liked to have seen, history aside, for that jacket ALONE) while living in Germany, but we were gone by then.

From BBC’s original story:

By the time Berliners started hacking away at the concrete wall that had divided their city for a generation, the torch-bearing anthem had been number one for several weeks in West Germany.

Hasselhoff once said: “I find it a bit sad that there is no photo of me hanging on the walls in the Berlin Museum at Checkpoint Charlie,” he told the magazine.”

Well, we’re not a historical landmark here at Fry Butt (not yet, anyway), but this is probably the best you’re gonna do.

I personally am a fan of the theme to Baywatch.

What about this one? Is it real or a joke?
