Fry Butter’s Commenter of the Week: Redlami

April 4, 2010

Redlami is our commenter of the week*. Redlami might be one of the few commenters who actually read the entire posts, which explains why nearly all his comments actually make sense.

  • I’m very interested in seeing how the iPad fares… if it makes it, I think it will be a triumph of marketing. At this point I simply don’t see what an oversized iPhone minus phone and camera is good for but then I’m not a visionary like the people at Apple. What, you say? They don’t have original ideas, they just put shine and glitter (and markups) on established technologies? Here’s the best idea for the iPad ever: ThinkGeek’s iCade – iPad Arcade Cabinet
  • OMG this is pure double-dipped awesomeness. Thank you so much for heightening my cultural awareness. Just when I get jaded and think all the good ideas must have already been tried, someone like Merton comes along. I hope he gets more than his fifteen minutes out of this because this really is inspired madness.
  • Thanks Tasha for taking ‘er easy for all us sinners. There’s no way I’d have watched this show. I always kinda liked Kirstie as an actress (I’m a sucker for that husky voice) but I don’t really need to know about her daily life.Thank goodness the number of channels settled down, or soon we’d be treated to a regular series featuring Danny Bonaduce’s rehab program.
  • This is so many flavors of win. I came for the theme songs but stayed for the commentary. After reading this I did a quick YouTube search of TV intros and it’s like my entire homework-avoiding adolescent life passed before my eyes.I still can’t resist the finger-snapping Addams Family theme. And I always smile at the horns that start the appropriately cheesy Vegas lounge-lizard arrangement of the Love Boat opening.

In honor of Peter Graves I can’t help mentioning Mission Impossible which had the only TV opening I would will myself not to blink through. Watching that show was like finding the Highlights hidden pictures.

And then there’s the whole “we’re gonna do it/make it” genre typified by Laverne and Shirley and Mary Tyler Moore.
